Bowls Stickers

Are our bowls stickers legal??

According to Austral BC they aren’t or so they say. I have spoken to the club and they say they were passing on information given to them by a Zone official.

Well the laws of the game say that if you are playing for Australia or any other country in a national or international event you can’t use our stickers. (If anybody is doing that please let’s know. That would be great news).  That is due to the fact that bowls can’t be more than 10 years old. In some cases no more than 12 months old. So you need to be able to check the date stamp. The stickers would cover this.

But for domestic play, the COP’s for NSW state that you may use any set of bowls, regardless of age. To that end they also say that you can cover the date stamp with stickers.

So on the back of that we are good to go and our stickers are fine. After the conversation with Austral they were heading straight for the Zone official to ‘please explain’. If there are any further developments I’ll let you know.

Happy bowling

Australia Day March

As we have done for a number of years we will be participating in this years Australia Day march on Monday 26th Jan. Meet at the club at 10 am in club uniform. It’s a good experience and something you can do for the club that only costs a bit of time. Hope to see you there.

Saturday AM Bowls – Beat the HEAT

Thinking about suggesting to the Match Committee starting am bowls on Saturdays. This would be targetting those wanting a game in the morning due to committments in the afternoon, working Ladies and juniors. Just for fun and no pressure or for those just wanting to beat the HEAT and get into the club for a quite afternoon social session. Good idea or not interested. Let’s know.
