Friday 18th of September saw the Camden Ladies run a very successful Six-A-Side Gala Day with teams coming from all over the Region. The weather was glorious and the bowling was great. Taking home the prizes were:Dapto Citizens on 111 pointsAustral were second with 92 pointsPicton were one shot behind with 91 points.     Another Austral team came fourth with 99 points.

Camden Club was delighted when our very own Heidi Finnerty was selected in the Senior State Side to play against Victoria in the Bioscape Sides Series played at Deer Park in August. Heidi played so well she was awarded Player of the Series for the Senior Womens Side.As a result of that success she was selected in the State Senior Side to play in The National Sides Series in Western Australia later in the year.

Saturday Night August 1st saw Camden Bowling Club return to the old days where a dinner, music and hilarity accompanied the presentation of the years awards.Taking out the prestigious Bowler of the Year Award was Guy Wilton.Another of the major awards on the night was the Rookie of the Year won by Lincon McLaren.President Mark Donehue awarded the Presidents Shield to club stalwarts Bruce King and Alan Webb.Matt Jones presented Gary Clark and Guy Wilton with their Major Pairs medals.Matt also presented Corey Eason and Chris Collins with their Runners up awards.Michael Everingham had a few words upon taking the Major Singles trophy.Kevin English and Keith Risk won the Minor Pairs congratulated by Matt Jones.Local MP Sally Quinell presented Alan Webb and Karl Szynal with the Handicap Pairs Runner Up pens.Team managers are hard to get and much valued. Kay Price and Lyn Mahoney had a great night when they picked up an envelope for their efforts.Annie Jones and Sharon Hoddy did a great job decorating the venue for the night.   

Divisional Pennants is a men only competition played midweek on Wednesdays. It has three divisions with the following restrictions: ii) Division 2: Open to all eligible players whose previous Open State Pennant grading is Grade 2 or below, or are ungraded. (iii) Division 3: Open to all eligible players whose previous Open State Pennant grading is Grade 4 or below, or are ungraded. (iv) Division 4: Open to all eligible players whose previous Open State Pennant grading is Grade 6 or below, or are ungraded. 15.5.1 Additional Players (i) A maximum of two players per side in any sectional match are eligible to play one division lower than their previous season grading would otherwise permit. (Note: this may be different players in each match). PENNANT SEASON OPENING In a new initiative club President Mark Donehue presented one of his very informative and high-class Power Point presentations to herald our 2026 pennant season. In his talk he covered the work of the selectors, the honour and responsibility of wearing club colours, the need for more managers and the great pride we take in fielding seven pennant teams. In fact, everything to do with the upcoming pennant competition. He even invited BPL Coach and former International player Steve Glasson in to give us a few insights into how to approach a pennant season as a player. After giving a brief history of his playing days from junior to World Outdoor Bowls Champion Steve made the following points: • Be proud to be a Ram • Support your teammates • Treat others as you would like to be treated • Every member of the team is important • Don’t buy into negative comments • Think about your bowls ‘Where will this end up if I miss?’ • Master Board is critical • Focus on technique to play the shot not the result you want from it • Roll up before the game to get your body moving and your mind in the right place • If you are down you must be up at the head • Approach Selectors with respect and think about their answers • Selectors should talk to players and explain their decisions • Celebrate team success. • The club should have a philosophy on what it wants to achieve
